I just didn’t know what to say last week. I got pretty absorbed in all the surreal and scary news out there right now, doing my best to calm my inner hypochondriac and stay sane and reasonable. I’m not a medical professional or scientist so all I can offer at the moment is a distraction, which can’t hurt, right? It should come as no surprise my skincare routine is my usual form of self-care and with everything going on at the moment, I’ve turned to some of my favorite little luxuries to take my mind off things and boost my mood.
These are the skincare products that make me feel like I’m truly pampering myself. Like I’m at the spa instead of sharing 600 or so square feet with my husband for the foreseeable future while we both work from home in our tiny carriage house. These treatments help me take care of myself, which makes me look and feel healthier. Never a bad thing in times of stress.
Stay well, stay the fuck HOME and do whatever makes you feel good. We could all use a little more kindness towards ourselves and each other right now. (And probably towards our credit cards. Who else is finding it really hard not to shop?)
Anyway. Here we go:
Skin Inc Optimizer Voyage Tri-Light++ — I’ve always enjoyed LED light therapy, ever since I first tried it at the dermatologist years and years ago. Whenever my skin is feeling congested or looking dull, I use this handy device along with Skin Inc’s Pure Deepsea Hydrating Overnight Mask. In just 10 minutes, it helps fight acne and inflammation and brighten my complexion.
Dr. Lancer Radiance Awakening Mask Intense — Now that I’m back to working from home, I’ve enjoyed wearing this mask during the daytime to get its full benefit. I like a sleep mask, but I suspect I’ve left most of this pricey mask on my pillow case. Spread on a thick layer, blot after 10-15 minutes and then let it sink in all day for major glow without burning or drying.
Biologique Recherche Serum Placenta — Using this serum always reminds me of my first visit to Rescue Spa and my intro to Biologique Recherche. I adore so many of their products but this one just feels so healing and really helps with acne marks and anti-aging. The smell is not for everyone but I’ll never stop slathering it on, four drops at a time. Sorry, Craig. Full review here.
Malin+Goetz Resurfacing Glycolic Pads — These pads reminded me why glycolic acid needs to be a part of my weekly regimen. Over the course of a month, using them only once a week, these babies cleared up some longstanding congestion on my entire chin and jaw. It wasn’t pretty, but now I sleep with the treatment on and wake up to clearer, impossibly smooth skin.
Ubuna Drench — I love a good hydrating serum and this one is my favorite luxe version. Not only does it effortlessly glide over my skin, absorb quickly, not pill when layered and keep my skin hydrated all day, it mixes beautifully with other serums, like the rest of the Ubuna range. Not sure I have the budget for a second bottle (I actually won the set of four Ubuna serums), but I’ll enjoy the dewy look it gives me until it runs out and miss it long after.
Laneige Eye Sleeping Mask — Not a day or night goes by that my eye area isn’t hydrated. Once or twice a week I like to use this super hydrating serum instead of a heavier cream. It sets quickly, doesn’t burn my eyes and helps me look fresh in the morning.
