5 Great Buys: Spring Is Coming

Last weekend really made it feel like spring is just around the corner. We had two days of bright blue skies and temps in the 50s, perfect for walking around. My mind, body and soul really needed it, too. As much as I thought I was holding off hitting that pandemic “wall” everyone talks about, I slammed right fucking into it last week.

So, I’m doing what I can to look after myself and really embrace the fresh start than comes with spring being near. I’m up by my alarm, I make the bed, work out, write and keep my diet as balanced as possible. Although I did request Craig pick up tortilla chips on the way home because it’s been far too long since I’ve had guacamole. Or decent Mexican food of any kind, for that matter.

Wherever you are, I hope you’re hanging in there. And if you’re leaning up against that wall right now too, know that I see you <3

Here are 5 great buys from the last month that I’d highly recommend to help bring on spring:

Diptyque Softening Hand Wash
A fancy soap is where I’m at mentally in 2021. And you really can’t beat this one, which has the most beautiful lavender smell and comes in a gorgeous glass bottle. Thankfully you can buy refills for it. Best of all, this soap isn’t making my eczema act up. Instead, my hands are actually softer and smoother since I’ve started using it. Thank god.

Einfache Designer Placemats by SIA
I love fabric placemats and tablecloths, but they’re a bit of work to clean. Plus, I prefer a more streamlined look in our house. These placemats (and coasters) look elegant on the table and are so simple to wipe down after messy meals. I have the emerald version and have been pleased with how well they stay in place, too.

Brooklinen Classic Percale Sheets
So, I knew American mattresses were bigger than Japanese mattresses, but I didn’t think they would be that much different than mattress here in the UK. Turns out, our American queen memory foam mattress is somewhere between a double and king here (there’s no queen in between those two) and is considered a “deep” mattress. Luckily, Brooklinen ships here. I like crisp, cool sheets and I’m looking forward to our set getting softer with each wash.

Foam Big Bubble Candle
I fell for the bubble candle trend that’s all over Instagram. Guilty. As. Charged. They just look more like little sculptures than candles, which is why it will be a long while before I ever light this thing. I picked up a pink one and I swear to her holiness Dolly Parton it smells like the donuts you get at a Michigan cider mill. I can’t explain it, but it’s delightful.

Gregory’s Tree Organic Strawberry Fruit Twists
Speaking of food, when I’m home, I’m definitely a snacker. So I have to be careful with what I keep on hand. Before we left NYC, Craig and I were in the throws of a serious addiction to Trader Joe’s version of Takis and swore we would do better after the move. To my delight, Tastily snuck a couple of these fruit twists in our weekly delivery and they’re so good, I had to pick up an entire box.
